Next Hi Summer 2017 Press Show

Stephen Sheppard

Following on from the Spring/Summer show for Next comes the Hi Summer show at One Belgravia. A slightly smaller venue and tight schedule but it all came together as planned for the one day show at the beginning of February.

Trying to bring the tropics to West London in February is a tough ask but I think we managed it. Three home pods and the beauty room set the tone downstairs with 3 different themes - Cuba, Horizons and Supernature which were brought together with the use of a few props to display the stunning Next homewear.

Up to the first floor and you were greeted with the "Swimming Pool" an area created using mirror mosaic, blue neon and water ripple lighting to transport you into summer for the display of the swimwear range on the mannequins and in the padded light boxes in the exterior pool walls.

Around the rooms were the bespoke hanging rails previously used at One Marylebone, mannequin pods with split cube effect lighting to give an added sense of depth as well as higlighting the mannequins and then finally the meeting/cafe area with rear projection wall.

January 2017 Trade Shows for Aden & Anais

Stephen Sheppard

Sheppard Design were again on their travels just after the New Year, with the slightly tweaked Aden & Anais stand.  It went from Amsterdam's Kleine + Fabriek show then on to Paris for Maison + Objet and Playtime . It will next be seen on home soil in Harrogate for the International Nursery Fair.

We tend to introduce a new unit or design change for each season which is made possible because of the way we approach the initial design and build of a stand. Due to each trade show bringing its own challenges we try to ensure that all of our stands are as adaptable as possible so that they can easily fit into the design requirements of each venue. This season we had to introduce a 4m high wall with large printed image and a new 2m x 2m display unit for showcasing key pieces in the range.

New Hanging Rails for Angel's Face

Stephen Sheppard

We were recently tasked with coming up with some hanging rail units that would sit alongside the previously made Carousel unit for Angel's Face. Intended to be used for an initial pop-up event in House of Fraser, we presume it is going well as it is now into its 4th month of what was supposed to be a 3 week installation.

The curved shelves for displaying boxed and folded items echo the round metal shelves used in the original Carousel unit and the simple lines of the unit as a whole enable the flamboyant product to shine. The gold mirrored branding brings a flash of glamour to the unit.

Next Spring/Summer 2017 press show

Stephen Sheppard

Installed in the former church and now event space, One Marylebone. The press show was an invite only event to promote the 2017 Spring/Summer ranges for Next. Designed by KSHT and all elements constructed by Sheppard Design, with directional lighting and projections by Ian Nolan Events.

The inspiration for the show was to taken from the english garden - flowers, cold frames and garden arbours.

The entrance was given impact with living walls either side of the key fashion pieces on mannequins, 3m cardboard cores were planted with ferns and ivys to give a hint of what was behind the graphic wall.

Light pods were constructed with polycarbonate sheeting and LED's to create a soft glowing light source to illuminate the accessories and fashion ranges. The hanging rails were made especially for this event with the intention to use them at future shows, they were designed in conjunction with KSHT and the idea was to create a folding rail that is easy to transport and store but still hasa sleek appearance with simple lines. This was created by keeping components to a minimum and with the addition of the concealed 12V lighting strip they create a strong contemporary impact and help to highlight the fashion ranges.

The arbour interpretations were installed to create the three homewares areas, the use of steel joints and chunky timber framed the zones and allowed the themes to have a link whilst also maintaining their individuality.

Plywood was used in the bar and social media areas to create a more organic feel, with the beautifully planted fresh flower troughs wrapping around the front of both bars to ensure that you knew that you should be thinking of warmer times and not of the cold November day that was outside. The two photo zones were well used to enable the press to upload their favourite pieces and create the buzz required.

Overall a very succesful show, now time to start planning the next one.

Aden & Anais Trade Shows January - February 2016

Stephen Sheppard

We travelled throughout Europe during the beginning of 2016 to install the Aden & Anais stands at the following trade show exhibitions:

  • Kleine Fabriek - Amsterdam
  • Pitti Bimbo - Florence
  • Playtime - Paris
  • Maison + Objet - Paris
  • FIMI - Madrid
  • Ambiente - Frankfurt

The itinerary resulted in numerous logistical and design challenges which were all overcome by using the existing stand system which is fully adaptable and interchangeable enabling us to reconfigure the stand to suit any space. All the stands are installed on a bare floor basis, so we install the carpet, walls and units.

We designed and constructed one new unit, which can be seen at the front of some of the stands, which was for displaying the Layette collection. The unit consists of a mix of moveable shelves and hanging rails with concealedLED lighting to highlight the product.

Please find below a small selection of images which show a few examples of the stands.

Next Hi Summer 2016 press show at Ham Yard Hotel

Stephen Sheppard

The installation of this show at the prestigious Ham Yard Hotel had to be completed inside a day including the dressing and display. The result still had to be dramatic and full of impact which was fully achieved with the use of large plinths, props and creative styling. Designed by KSHT Ltd. and installed by Sheppard Design. The plinths were constructed out of a variety of materials and finishes (OSB, Chipboard, Ply and a distressed wallpaper) to give an eclectic feel.

Next Spring/Summer 2016 press show

Stephen Sheppard

Over 3 days of intense building we installed the press show to promote Next's Spring Summer 2016 range at a press event in Victoria House. Designed by KSHT and with lighting by Power Logistics the installation took inspiration from the upcoming merchandise campaign to create a fresh and bold display. With an "app lounge" to promote the launch of the new app, 2 beauty lounges, a cafe, flower stall and most importantly the large merchandising area there was a lot to be done. But thanks to our hard working team the 160 m of walls was completed on schedule ready for the successful one day show to showcase the key items from the menswear, womenswear, kids and homewear ranges for the upcoming season.
